Avenir was created as a love for the French way of life—visits to the butcher, the baker, local cafes, specialty shops, always a sense of neighborhood.

“Hi, I’m Clara Lester, Founder of Avenir. My original plan was to name the company “I Just Want A Day Off” because I couldn’t find a day off from my former event business to gift three unique places for my employees to visit (on their day off). I wanted thoughtful and designed gifts, not just a gift card. My idea of a special experience was to share my favorite locations with them, places that matched their lifestyle. As planners, we designed events for up to thousands; I wanted to create an event for one.

I am always curious to uncover independent, local, and tucked-away spots that have a sense of place. Cozy, interesting, and vibrant locations can have me linger for hours. I hope that Avenir brings you and your recipients the same intrigue and lasting moments!
